We support businesses who want to make a difference in their community and enhance the environment that we live in.  Love Solihull have supported and worked with lots of businesses over the last few years.  There are a number of ways that your business could help the community.

Through employee volunteering, your team, employees and support can make a real difference to communities where it is most needed.  There are opportunities to carry out practical work throughout Solihull's green spaces.

Take a look at just  some of the community projects below that need your help:

Elmdon Nature Park & Local Nature Reserve

Nestled on the edge of Solihull, Elmdon Nature Park is a wonderful Green Flag Park and Local Nature Reserve, offering views across the entire region, giving the park a countryside feel. Elmdon Park Woodland is also designated a Site of Importance for Nature Conservation.

We are dedicated to protecting this area of local importance, much of the conservation work is a result of hardworking volunteers, to which we owe many thanks.

This invaluable support helps to promote an ‘access for all’ approach towards encouraging community use and enjoyment of the Reserve. Whilst delivering a high quality accessible green space that is a valued community asset, providing opportunities for quiet recreational activities and access to nature.

The ambition is to enhance the potential of the area as a high quality accessible natural green space for those working, and living within the surrounding neighbourhoods.

Forest School Gardens:

Forest Schools in Solihull have been running in the borough for seven years and to date approximately 45% of Solihull schools are Forest Schools.

The Forest School ethos originated in Denmark, it encourages children to take risks, explore, understand the natural world and understand themselves. It is designed to increase self-esteem and self-understanding, promoting social skills, communication, motivation and physical skills.

The Forest School Leaders are always looking for help with maintaining and developing their grounds and to create, adapt woodland spaces for their Forest School sessions.

Community Litter Picks:

Every year we support Keep Britain Tidy's national Great British Spring Clean campaign, although in Solihull this support is available no matter what the season!

Unfortunately, a number of our green spaces suffer from littering and fly-tipping. While Solihull Council removes a massive amount of this litter every day, the sites would benefit from additional help to keep the green space that we manage clean.

While litter picking may not sound like the most glamorous way to spend the day with your colleagues, what you can achieve in a day can make a massive difference to our green spaces and communities while being a very rewarding experience for those involved.

We supply all the litter picking equipment, including; litter pickers, high visibility vests, handi hoops and sacks.

Other employee volunteering opportunities for businesses who are keen to improve their local environment include:

  • Parks management such as improving flower beds, pruning, weeding, mulching  planting flowers and painting playgrounds.

  • Woodland management - helping to improve and maintain woodland habitats and opening up woodland paths by cutting back encroaching vegetation and over-hanging branches.
