WHAT TO EXPECT ON YOUR EMPLOYEE VOLUNTEERING DAY

We offer a variety of opportunities across the borough, and your organisation can work with Love Solihull as an ongoing relationship or as a one off event, the choice is yours.  Here you will find more details on what to expect and the types of work you can get involved with.

Typically our days take place from 09:30-15:00, but we can be flexible according to your team's needs.

On your employee volunteering day your team will get stuck into a practical outdoor activity usually based in one of the borough's many parks and open spaces.

Typical tasks include:

  • painting playgrounds and park furniture

  • gardening type activities including flower bed planting & maintenance

  • litter picking

  • woodland and nature trail pathway maintenance including constructing basic pathways & surfacing with stone or bark chippings

  • cutting back vegetation

  • conserving habitats through invasive species removal, habitat management and wetland improvements

Community projects are subject to availability.  Occasionally, depending on the location, we may be able to provide opportunities to work alongside local volunteers from community groups such as Friends of Shirley Park and Elmdon Park Support and some of the tasks you will undertake will have been identified by these community groups.

For more information on your Employee Volunteering Day please read our FAQs.

You can find out more about our Parks & Open Spaces as well as some of the Community Groups that we work with right here on our website.

At least one member of our team will be with you at all times to provide guidance and advice, so you can rest assured you will be looked after!
